I discovered this by accident. I always use superglue when applying nails (as opposed to two sided tape) because I rarely have to worry about a nail popping off. At first I would pick them off the next day with a knife and most of you probably know that's bad for your nails. And my nails took a beating. :o

When I finally wised up and started removing them with acetone, I found the superglue tended to remain. I'd go all week and the glue would still be there. So last week I experiemented and laid a thin layer of superglue on a nail that was less than smooth. I kept applying it in the recessed areas until it built up to the same level as the rest of the nail. Then I took out nail sanding pads and smoothed it out using finer and finer grit and then finished it with a buffer. It looked pretty good and since it's clear you couldn't tell it was there. So I did this to another damaged nail then another.

All week long I kept an eye on them but I wasn't consciously cautious so my nails were subjected to normal abuse. And the superglue finish showed no sign of wearing off, chipping or coming loose. It also seemed to add some curve to my nails, another plus.

I've tried several fillers and top coats and nothing even comes close to the results I get with superglue. It takes some patience but when it's done at least you know it will last.

If anyone tries this or has done it I'd like to hear if you get the same results. I know I'm sold. Now watch, some manufacturer will read this and incorporate it into a nail filler product and make millions. ;)

Great idea Julie, superglue resists most things I know of,all except superglue solvent.I don't know what is in it but they do make one for those of us who glue our fingers together.
