The gallery is now fixed but you will all need to create new accounts in it and notify me when you have.

Unfortunately the user accounts could not be ported to the new server. All other data should be there.

Once you notify me I will associate your album with your user account.

Please note the following when you set up your account in the gallery.

You must provide an accurate email address, if you mistype this you won't be able to register and won't get in!, please double check.

Once registered, your username and password are case sensitive, you must type them exactly.

If you find that you can't use the administrative functions, please check your pop up blocker settings, these functions are all performed with pop ups!

If you still have trouble please get in touch with me and I will try to resolve the issue.

One last thing, please keep the content decent, no nudity or bulges, my rule of thumb is if you wouldn't show a picture to your Friends wife, it doesn't belong there!

Enjoy, Rachael.

Just to let everyone know, the gallery has now been moved to a link on the home page navigation bar where it can only be seen if you are logged into the site.

The Gallery looks like ots going to be fun. I see you can vote on individual pics which is good - but where can you view the ratings of each pic or album?

When you are logged in - on the top left you should see four options to view albums by highest ratings(votes), most recently added, by comments, and so on.

Ratings/votes are what you're looking for.

Are there any limits on picture size or number of pics a member can post?

Michelle Gray

priscilla i think there is lov but the limit size is very big and we have lots of room to play with so it works out pretty good for me, if you find out that there is let me know what the actual size is please it will be handy just to know.

I think we are going to have to limit the amount of pictures we host now. This is a little different than the last server. Size does matter/Think in Megabytes

If you post a hundred pictures at 1MB each = that's 100MBs
If three hundred people post a hundred pics at 1MB each = that's 30,000MBs or 30GBs roughly. Not that we have that many pictures but we don't have a lot of bandwidth per month nor space like we did before. I hope we won't have to limit things being we're still a small site compared to some.

This isn't written in stone, but our initial limits are 10GB bandwidth per month and 1.5GB disk space. To increase these we have to pay more. I just bought a base business package.

I used over a gig of bandwidth just moving the site and it has occupied over a gig of disk space.

This means we only have half a gig left for database growth and pictures.

It's not a problem, it's just something the staff will need to review on a regular basis.

Here.........I have a pencil behind my ear, we could use that for the complex calculations. :) I'll get Lyn to find some paper that I havnt already drawn on.

Be fun to get together at everyones houses once a month wouldnt it! Who is takin minutes and all that? I can bring some cheese and crackers and a smile! :)

So you have the pencil, I had to use mental arithmetic, and you know how mental I am!

Simple calculation, we have just over a Gig of data, fits into a gig and a half of space. :D

It may not sound like much, but the forum's data has grown to this size over the last couple of years, so there should be enough space for at least six months here.

I can bring some cheese and crackers and a smile! :)

That's my job.... You just supply the wine..... lol......

I'm not good with the math these days (a bit rusty) but I can learn, lol..... (actually I'm not too bad) but give me a pile of circuit boards and I might build something that doesn't explode when you plug it in........:D :)

The Gallery is temporarily unavailable due to a file gone missing on our server. Therefore you will not be able to log into it for the time being. We will do everything we can to get it repaired as soon as possible.. Please be patient with us.

Not whining just curious. Is this why I could not attach pictures to a recent thread?

Tristen Cox

Attachments have nothing to do with the Gallery. Only if you tried to link your picture from a picture you posted in the Gallery would there be any effect. At the moment the Gallery login is fine. As I mentioned a file went missing(they don't just up and delete themselves), and this happened more than once(?). Seems hackers have been playing about with things and we're lucky nothing else has been done.

However extensive lag on the server loads have lead to the site be unusually slow if not frozen. There is nothing we can do about it. They are likely monitoring traffic now to see who might be trying to get in and currupt things. This is only an opinion. You may have tried attaching a file during one of those freezes and the upload failed. That's my best explaination..

Denial of service attacks? ARP table poisoning? Man in the middle attacks? We see that with our clients all too often... :(
