Can you or has anyone experienced using any kind of hairspray on their wigs? Synthetic or human? Is this a no-no or is there some special holding spray to help style them?

Just curious:)

I dont know about synthetic wigs, my last one didnt last long.........turned into a matted animal! But my real one has been great! It responds to colour etc as it should, so hairspray or gell would be no probs at all.

Guidelines for Synthetic Wigs and Hairpieces
• Use shampoo and conditioner made specifically for synthetic wigs (do not use a mild shampoo as it will cause the hair to oxidize)
• Put item on styrofoam head or wig saver after washing (do not use cans, lamps, etc.)
• Use hairsprays made specifically for synthetic wigs
• Do not use any form of human hair mousse, gels or spritzers
• Any type of heat will cause wig fibers to frizz (lamps, ovens/stoves, heat from body)
• Do not attempt to cut the wig or hairpiece as it must be professionally done
• Do not use use any form of curling irons, hot rollers or blow dryers
• We recommend using a Silicon spray to protect the synthetic hair from frizzing, drying out and fading
• Please remember everyone's head size is different - most wigs need to be sized and fitted for the individual

It seems you can't mix and match, it's special products for synthetic wigs and shouldn't be used on real hair wigs.

tris,
i use a synth wig spray made by brandywine. only on the bangs though. synth wigs are not designed to be washed every day like human hair. i also use on occasion reflections spray-on shine by jheri redding it contains silicone. works great on my med. length lightly curled wigs. no frizz! again, do not wash your wigs on a regular basis. the permanent style will be lost very quickly.

ps: glad to see you back! we were all worried about you!

hugs
kimm;)

Nice to be back. Yeah I was just wondering during my time away if I could do anything to make certain wigs 'hold'. If I did do this it would be rare as I know washing them too much ruins them quickly.

Thanks again for the help

Geezzzzz... I've been washing my favorite wig for years with Woolite (in cold water) and rinsing it with a little Downy fabric softener!!! It's at least five years old now and still looks pretty good.

Maybe it would look better if I had used that silicone stuff. :o
