This past weekend showed us all how bad the shared server can be and showed us all how much a part of our lives this site has become. The fact that we need a new dedicated server has become obvious to us all. This will not be cheap, but it will be worthwhile. We have a chance to make this the best and the cleanest site on the web.A place that we can be proud of and where our wives and SOs can read our posts without sleeze and porn.A place where we can encourage others to try a peek out of the closet and see daylight.A place where others can come and realize that they are not alone.
I am donating $20 per month,10% of my small pension check, and I urge others to give whatever they can to keep our dream alive.$1, $2 or more is a small price to pay to keep our home on line.I know others have donated and, I hope, will continue to do so.I will now get off my soapbox.:rose:

Trisen - please post mailing address for funds. ( I saw it somewhere but can't find it - and no I don't have my blond wig on.)

We're very close.. yet the daily slowdowns say we need to get there and soon...anyone else?

Donate now (http://crossdresserclub.com/home/donate.php)

I know many are thinking that the other site is free and why should I donate here.We all know how the others in modern society look at us and many of us are in the closet, that safe dark closet. Our goals are to make it easier for the others to join our ranks and, someday change how the world views us.We are also creating what will be the best site on the web,a site that our wives and SOs can view anything and not be upset by sleeze. This was happening on the other site;and it won't happen here.We offer support to those who need it and we watch over our Sisters. This is our way to give back to the community.Think of Sisters who have helped you when you needed it,pretty good feeling. We have a chance to make other Sisters feel that same good feeling, that is a very good goal, help us make it happen.$1,$2,or more will make this happen and put an end to error messages and the site crashing or running slow. We really need to move and, with all of your help, we can make it happen.

At this time I'd like to say that at some point next week we will be moving to a private server. However I can't be much more precise than that at the moment.

It shouldn't take more than a couple hours to make the actual move and I will try to keep everyone updated as to when exactily this will happen.

Stay tuned...:)

Nuthin like a little pussy on your lap...uhm...

Anyways guess you figured we haven't moved yet. Waiting for confirmation of everything in the registry to be set up on the new end so hopefully this coming morning or at some point during the day we'll close down and move everything over.

No sense getting impatient but that's me so I am :p

Here's an update. I'm sure you've noticed things getting slow here again. It's not us, I'm having the same with this server itself. Apparently they screwed up trying to upgrade our account and I've been getting the run around from these sods. I'm not having it and I am going to go with plan B and try to switch us completely off this company as they've caused us nothing but trouble since the beginning.

Later this week I'll be getting us a spot with another host under a virtual account with more access to out root files that we will have control over as we should. Then of course there's moving the domain registry and tha final move of the whole site. We need to have this done and finished a.s.a.p. Will keep you all informed of what's happening as it happens. Personally I can't wait to have it over with and I'm stressed to the max thinking about it.

Stay tuned....

K since everyone has been waiting patiently here's an update.

Last minute as per usual: we have a deticated server and are setting it up from scratch so it's been a pain to say the least. Looks like about when my part to play in this(actual forum stuff) will be on/around Christmas day, and hence forth the final moving of the site put into motion. Time is drawing short so crossing my fingers, toes, and dresses hoping this works smoothly.

I would like to thank Rachael for her long hours put into setting this up. I'm going to go over it with a fine toothed comb before we put it in writing. But we are done on our present server regardless on the 29th so this has to be right. So if you're wondering what I'm doing for Christmas this is it. When she's done on the server side of things, I take over and get the delicate job of moving AND upgrading the forum then making sure everything works, and then some. If everything goes right and I believe it will, we shouldn't be down for long during the transition and will be on a new server of our own for the new year.:)

Love to everyone

OK if you're reading this you found the right place:) The site has been moved to the new server however not everything is done so please allow another week for the domain transfer and any bugs to be fixed. Although I think we should be fine.

Remember to change your bookmarks to this site= http://209.165.243.116/home/index.php ;) In the meanwhile you may come across certain links going back to where the old place was. If so you'll quickly get a forum locked message. We will sort everything out soon.

Many thanks to Rachael Warren for helping us get to this place.

Happy New Year!!!

Ok, I apologise for not giving an explanation earlier, but I have been very busy trying to get this place back to normal.;)

I am posting this to explain the nine day outage that most of you will have seen.

Basically when we moved to the new server over the Christmas and new year period, we experienced a few minor problems, we went live and I continued to work on finding the source of these bugs.

As time went on, I ended up just treading water as one problem led to another.

As it turned out the server failed big time on Friday evening two weeks ago, the hard drive was failing, as reported by our hosting company.

Unfortunately the hosting company don't work weekends, so the best we could do was to negotiate that they bring it back on-line for me to recover our data over the weekend. (Don't forget that the server is in the United States and I am in the United Kingdom! TIME ZONES  )

I frantically worked all weekend and I did recover all I could, including ALL of our data, but not enough of the original operating system to completely recover.

The Host eventually replaced the hard disk and brought the server back on-line by the following Tuesday, but a password issue left me unable to work on it until later (Don't you just hate TIME ZONES!).

The rebuilt server was also an updated operating system, and meant that I had to start from scratch again! Not wishing to be negative about this I took the opportunity to upgrade many things.

Please also realise that I have to do this work in my free time, I have a job and need to earn a living! All of the management on this site are unpaid volunteers!

This web site is a very complex system, it comprises of hundreds of software packages that all have to be the right versions or compatible with each other, it's a huge jigsaw, it takes a great deal of time to work it all out.

I brought the site back on-line last Sunday evening, but still had a number of things to sort out.

I am a happy Bunny this evening, most of the work is done. I do have a few issues to sort out but they are trivial, the site as a whole is now up and hopefully stable. If you do find bugs please report them!

I have to thank my work colleagues for allowing me to take some holiday time to complete this work, and yes they do know about this work and me! :p

Hopefully we are now set for many months of uninterrupted usage!

Again, my sincere apologies for the outage, it was really out of my hands.

Hugs to all, Rachael.

P.S. Please all thank Freya for allowing me to do this work, she allowed me to give up all responsibility over Christmas and the new year through to now, she is a really special girl, and I love her to bits!

Thankyou thankyou and thankyou again.... I was informed over at my place, by Tristen, of a few details as to the cause of the problem. Technology systems can fail us at times and that's why we need the experts. A lot of time, both work and personal, has been put into all this. We can only be very grateful for all that has been done by everyone concerned.

Racheal, I didn't understand a word of that! Being the I.T. sales guru that I am, I need a detailed technical report on the fault please! Melissa, if you think that was geek speak, oh my, are you in for a shock!

Now, back to reality.

Thank you Racheal for your dedication, I know from experience how difficult serious technical issues can be to rectify. I understand that you gave up a lot of your personal time, especially over the festive season, to help our forum. It's very much appreciated.

Freya, your support for us, the forum and Racheal is incredible! Just having an SO who accepts her TG spouse, and then to allow Racheal to spend all that time buried in the I.T. world when real life demands are present is exceptional. Words can't really express our gratitude. Your a special GG!

Racheal, you deserve a break. Go away for a long weekend with that 'one of a kind' lady of yours!

This is long overdue, but for personal and work reasons I had to leave certain work on the back burner.

I can now report that all essential systems are up and running, and most of the nonessential ones too.

I do have further work to do, but for the moment we are really afloat.

My apologies for the delays, but life comes first and I do have to make a living too.

Rachael Warren

The forum was down for a few hours today, it was no fault of ours or our host.

The problem was two Internet routers that decided to bounce our traffic between themselves until it timed out.

We weren't the only ones affected.

Apologies for the down time.

Rachael Warren

The reason that we are having the current problem is due to the original registrant of the domain name.

I asked them to renew it on my behalf, not Tristen's but they have failed to do so.

I have placed a transfer request and emailed the internic to explain the situation.

Unfortunately this record is one that I can't control, it's only the registrars and the Internet authority's that can do anything about it.

Please be patient, I hope to have the situation resolved shortly.

It hasn't helped that the expiry was at a weekend.

Rachael Warren
10-01-2006, 09:21 AM
Some DNS servers will remember the name for a while, others have already dropped it.

Until I can get the record renewed this situation will continue.

Make sure you note this URL Wanda, http://209.83.0.120/home

While using this one the Gallery won't function so some pictures will be unavailable.
